International Granting Guidelines
Before You Grant — Key Requirements
- Grants cannot be made to individuals
- Grants should be made to a charity, church, school, or hospital
- Grants should be at least $5,000
- Grants cannot be made to sanctioned countries. Currently, this includes: Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, Russia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen
- All grant recipients should have a Charity Fund
- No contributions should be made until the receiving charity's Charity Fund is approved

Helpful International Granting Topics
Before Charity Funds can be set up to receive international grants, TrustBridge Global conducts legal due diligence that requires the following from charities:
- Legal information documents
- Background checks on key people involved in the charitable organization
- Three years of financial statements (for new charities, forecasts will be accepted)
Charity Fund Application Assessment — Only required for new charities not already on the TrustBridge platform.
Grant Assessments — The following assessments are applied to each international grant:
We find it helpful to ask prospects the following questions. If the answer to both is yes, we recommend connecting them to Paul Bolte, Executive Vice President of TrustBridge Global Foundation.
- Are you planning to give to a charity outside the U.S.?
- Are you planning to give at least $5,000 in one grant?

Use these questions to surface interest in international granting from prospects and donors:
- Are there charities outside the U.S. you would want to grant to?
- Are you granting to U.S. charities that are doing work outside the U.S.? Does it cost more than 1% of the grant value to do this?
- Are you aware how far your dollar can go outside the U.S.?
- Do you have business interests or hold assets outside the U.S.? Can we help you with your giving from those assets?
- Are you paying taxes in both the U.S. and U.K. or Switzerland?
- Are you aware of large charities who would want to receive money from outside the U.S.?
- Are you or any of your clients considering holding assets outside of the U.S.?
